Photography has been woven into my life for over 15 years, starting back when I was a child when I first picked up a camera. At the time, I didn’t realize just how powerful a photograph could be, but that truth revealed itself to me over the years, especially during my time in the military. I photographed fellow service members, many of whom are no longer with us, and those images have become priceless reminders for their families and for me. That season of my life taught me that photographs are more than pictures; they are legacies.

During Covid, photography became my outlet, a way to process, heal, and connect when the world felt so distant. It’s where I rediscovered the joy of storytelling through my lens and where I began falling deeply in love with not just the work but with the people whose lives I was entrusted to capture.

My path into birth photography began through my work as a doula. Supporting families in their most vulnerable, powerful moments showed me how much these stories deserve to be remembered. Over time, I realized that photographs have the ability to honor the sacredness of birth, motherhood, and family in ways words often cannot. What began as hands-on support in the birth space has grown into a calling to document life’s rawest, most meaningful chapters, whether it’s the quiet strength of labor, the joy of saying “I do,” or the everyday beauty of family.

Now, as Kylee Spencer Photography, I bring together all of these experiences, my heart as a doula, my years of photographing life in all its complexity, and my love for genuine human connection. Every session is more than just images; it’s about creating something timeless, something that will hold meaning for years to come.
